For the Emprah!

I wanted to update one more time to let you know my progress. Although not a lot has changed, I am now finished putting together my models. The first image is my current 1500 point army. Sadly I have no heavy support, and was told not to buy anything else before my birthday by my girlfriend, or she’ll kill me. I guess I’ll have to wait.

The second is an image of the models I’m not using in my list. There are two Khorne Berzerkers left out of my 1500 points, but I thought it was redundant to post them again. I have the new resin Raptor squad, 10x CSM with assorted weaponry, and a Terminator Lord here. I began magnetizing the lord, but wanted to punch myself in the balls after finishing two arms. Not now, adult scout cookies, but later….

Once I have some heavy support units, I’d like to start painting. I’m not entirely sure what legion I should go with, but chances are it’ll be the Black Legion. Someone on reddit suggested I could possibly make a Black Crusade army with multiple legion colors. I kind of liked that idea. I’d like to hear anyone else’s thoughts as well, if you’d like to weigh in on the matter.

Sorry I haven’t updated anything recently. I literally hadn’t slept in my own bed for 25 days until this Monday. I decided to go ahead and play CSM, as I’m sure you can tell by my photo. Over the holiday, all I did was read CSM fluff, and search for CSM lists. That’s what made up my mind to go ahead and play CSM, regardless of how competitive they are. You have to go with what you love.

So this is my current CSM army. I have 15 Chaos Space marines as well, but I won’t be fielding them in this incarnation of my list. Also, I won’t be fielding the terminator lord. I just thought he was cool, so I bought one. I have on order 2 Daemon Princes, 2 Rhinos, and 2 Plague Marine squads. I found a list on Dakkadakka that I liked, and I decided to emulate it for the moment. If anyone’s interested, I’ll post it.

I have no idea what legion I’ll be going with. I really like the idea of being able to field any type of unit, and fluff-wise, the only legion that tends to do that is the Black Legion. I’m not particularly thrilled about having an all black army, but I thought it may be a good starting point. I’m not even thinking about painting them till I finish my initial list. I’d rather be able to start playing than have an army that looks pretty.

I had a few questions as to why I chose Blood Angels. Honestly, Chaos Space Marines were my first choice. However, after doing some research, it appears that CSM are getting a big revamp next year, and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on models who may be going out of print. I’m looking at you, obliterators, at $23 a pop. ಠ_ಠ Also, Khorne berzerkers who may be getting jump packs? Fuck yeah.

Anyway, Space Marines have always appealed to me, because I’m kind of a fag like that. Although I like the idea of fielding only terminators, I didn’t want to go with Grey Knights since they’re bland as hell. So, I chose Blood Angels. They have some cool fluff, except for being super secret pony princess unicorn best friends forever with Necrons (thanks, Matt Ward). They also seem like they can kick the dick out of a lot of things.

Am I disappointed I’m not playing Chaos right now? Maybe a little bit, but I think it’ll pay off in the long run if new models come out. From what I understand, I have 7 months or more to put back money for a CSM army, and that’s what I plan to do.

Here’s my army currently. I bought the local gaming store out of its 3 boxes of assault marines, and assembled them. I’m waiting to get more for the moment, as I’ll be taking a vacation during the holiday season.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what I should purchase next for Blood Angels, leave me a message. I’ll probably get another box of assault marines to make two 10 man squads, and then buy a librarian for a HQ and some sanguinary priests. Maybe I’ll even get a predator tank, who knows?

Welcome to my new Warhammer 40K blog. Having been interested in the 40K fluff for several years, I finally decided to take the plunge, and start playing. I created this blog to document my progress as I spiral further into the world of tabletop miniature wargaming.
